Some HP 17bii+ financial calculators were sold between August 2022 and November 2023 with their coin batteries loosely packed in the packaging. There is no fault with the calculator other than the battery cover may not be secured by a captive screw. It is essential these batteries are kept out of the reach of children as swallowing can lead to serious injury or death from chemical burns in as little as 2 hours. If you are holding a packaged unit, either correctly install the batteries in the battery compartment and secure its cover with the screw or return the packaged unit to its place of purchase.
